R.M., who worked with me about a year, transitioned up several levels in the largest company of her mid-size town. R.M. is now reporting to the CEO and looks forward to each morning, including Monday morning! To read her story, read what she emailed:
Terri,
In a real stunner, I was offered the job today that I wanted and am doing what I love to do!!
Terri - I am astounded. It worked! It all worked. If you were here, we would be jumping up and down for joy!
This is what I noticed about the whole coaching experience.
1. Things take time. I had to process information, let things stew. Explore. Dream. Take assessments. Meet with you several times.
2. I got busy with taking small steps. Gave more presentations at work. Got on a few committees to vary my work and contacts.
3 I explored and interviewed for 3 jobs that were not the right ones. Thank God I did not get them.
4. I got a break when I was selected to be a trainer. I traveled for training, came back and co-facilitated 3-day trainings, and then traveled again for an annual trainers conference. It was a busy time. I was growing personally too. And also forming closer working relationships. People outside my unit were seeing me, and I was getting excellent feedback.
5. Then I found out a person was leaving the position (I now have), and I called her to have lunch to explore what her job entailed, and she encouraged me to apply.
6. I kept everything confidential from my boss until the last minute because I knew she would discourage me from leaving. She actually got teary, and I knew it was really hard on her for me to leave. I had given her a lot of support as well as a lot of work. But we ended on a really good note, so I am glad. I tell you this because there are many reasons people don't get up the gumption to actually leave, and this could be one of them. But I kept affirming to myself "I have done enough. I have done a good job."
7. And you, too, had helped free me by asking key questions that were turning points for me.
8. Another thing that really made a difference to me was your outstanding support. I thought "Geez someone in the universe really, actually cares that I am I am in the right job for me, and not just one of convenience or habit. I must matter."
9. SO, opportunity met hard work. I prayed a LOT, and even wrote my letters to God.
10. It did NOT happen overnight. It took about 12 months, from the time I first contacted you.
11. Also, you helped me to understand that I am an introvert, gaining energy from time alone. I am not shy. I do like people, but I wanted work that allowed me more time to think, learn, write, study, create and operate independently, on my own schedule. So this job offers that.
Blessings, R.M.

“It was a pleasure to receive Terri’s help through my career transition. She was easy and fun to work with and kept me right on target. Thanks to her, my process was speeded up considerably and I’m on a path that I had given up on years ago. I didn’t even remember abandoning those goals until she and I began working together. I’m a coach myself and have worked with many and Terri is the best!” ~ Carol S., Florida
"I would recommend Terri since she is able to help anyone at any place in their career search to identify and offer suggestions that allow them to be more effective and identify ways to convey the value the person can bring to their new position. The only thing I would do next time is contact Terri sooner!" ~Christopher N., Indiana
"I worked with Terri on the winter of 2007. She has a superb ability to help you access the career that is best for you both as a money earner and as a human being. She has lovely people skills and is truly dedicated to her profession. I would not hesitate to refer her to anyone, and especially those who value working with someone who is both professional and caring. Most importantly, what she does works, and I emerged from my time with her with a crystal clear vision of my path." ~Lorelei F., New York
“I learned more from you than college.”
“Career coaching helped me to set a goal and action steps. In the past I thought of the goals, but not the action steps. [So the goals weren’t achieved].”
“More things to work with…One of the best things for me has been coaching.”
